Craftsmanship
Along the Nagara River
About CASA stella
CASA stella is a cultural and tourist facility located in the historic Kawaramachi district of Gifu City.
The building, once used as a warehouse connected to the production of traditional washi paper, has been carefully renovated into a welcoming space where visitors can experience local craftsmanship and culture.
Kawaramachi developed as a river port along the Nagara River. Natural materials were transported by boat, supporting traditional industries such as wagasa (Japanese umbrellas) and chōchin (paper lanterns),which remain symbols of the area’s heritage today.
